HBO already working on season 2, of House Of The Dragon

While the new series House of The Dragon has just launched, HBO has already formalized the arrival of season 2. So far, only one episode has aired on the video-on-demand platform.

Today, HBO announced that Ryan Condal and George RR Martin’s House of the Dragon series about Westeros’ infamous inbred dragon family has been renewed for a second season. This extension follows the broadcast of the first episode on HBO and HBO Max last Sunday.

This first episode was a real hit as the series attracted nearly 10 million viewers upon release, the highest audience for a new HBO original series. More than 20 million viewers had watched the first episode through Friday the company said in a press release.

House of the Dragon already has a season 2 before the premiere even ends

Even before the end of the first season, the civil war in Targaryen has already been officially extended. The series, which takes place about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, is therefore being renewed for a second season, but HBO hasn’t released any details about it yet.

Nevertheless, Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming said: “We are extremely proud of what the entire House of the Dragon team has accomplished with the first season. Our phenomenal cast and crew rose to the challenge and exceeded all expectations, delivering a series that has already proven itself as a must-see show.

A huge thank you to George, Ryan, and Miguel for leading us on this journey. We couldn’t be more excited to bring House Targaryen’s epic saga to life with season 2.” Like a memory, the series is based on George RR Martin’s book, Fire & Blood, which chronicles the rise and fall of the Targaryens, the only family of dragons to survive the fall of Valyria.

We imagine the season will also be filled with bitter rivalry, jealousy, lust, dragons, the quest for power, and betrayal that will drive the Targaryens apart and threaten to destroy a dynasty that reigns supreme.
