Here’s what you need to know about Pixel 8 Pro’s main camera sensor

In October, a report indicating information about the main camera sensor of the Pixel 8 Pro surfaced on the internet. The report suggested that the Pixel 8 Pro accompanies the ISOCELL GNV sensor, the same sensor that has been used with the Vivo X80 Pro. It appears to be false information since we have some details about the main camera sensor of the Pixel 8 Pro.

Well, this is a common and easy mistake. According to the information shared by Maeil Business Newspaper, the Pixel 8 Pro features the ISOCELL GNK sensor. It is a successor to the ISOCELL GN1 sensor that was recently unveiled. The ISOCELL GNK sensor is a 50MP camera sensor that features better HDR support and improved autofocus. Previously, the company was expected to use the ISOCELL GN2; however, the plan was changed later on.

Let’s take a close look at the characteristics and features of the ISOCELL GNK sensor. It is a 1/1.3-inch sensor that features 1.2um pixels, Dual Pixel Pro autofocus, staggered HDR, and Smart ISO Pro. It can record 8K video at 30 fps and 4K video at 120 fps. The ISOCELL GNK can record full-resolution 50MP frames at 24 frames per second and 12.5MP pixel-binned footage at 90 frames per second. It can also capture up to 14-bit RAW image files.

It is kind of strange that the tech giant Google opted for this sensor but anyway, it is good for all reasons. The company has a lot of room to offer improved features than the ones that were available at launch. The company can use more AI features. One thing to notice here is that this information relates to the Pixel 8 Pro and not the Pixel 8. However, there is a possibility that it might be using the same main camera sensor.
