HomePod mini now in new color “Midnight”
Apple today surprisingly introduced the HomePod mini in the new midnight color. Midnight is a deep blue-black and replaces the previous “space gray,” which was more black than gray. The new lineup will be available from Wednesday, July 17.
Midnight instead of space grey
Apple has announced this via Press release announced – except for the launch of the new color midnight, which will replace the previous space gray, everything seems to have stayed the same. There are still five colors, with yellow, orange, blue and white remaining on offer. It is only logical that the color name midnight now also appears on the HomePod mini – this deep blue-black can also be selected on the iPhone. And the second generation HomePod also has the color option midnight.
Perhaps a little disappointing: the price and functions are identical, there are no other changes apart from the color. So Apple has not – or not yet – updated the HomePod mini with a second generation model, but has now made an addition. A technically improved model has been expected for some time. The midnight color variant is almost imperceptibly different, with a slight blue undertone added to the previously pure black material. There is actually no difference to be seen in the press photos – you probably only really see the differences in the new color in daylight. You need so much imagination to spot any differences:
Price and availability
The “old” space gray has already disappeared from Apple. The HomePod mini in midnight can already be ordered for 109 euros. The new color will be available from July 17 in Apple stores in Germany, mainland China, Canada, Singapore and the USA as well as in 27 other countries and regions. The chances are now quite good that you may be able to get the “space gray” at a special price from local partners.
