Huawei has announced its own mapping service to reduce its dependence on Google Maps following the US ban. Presently, Huawei is not allowed to use US technologies without special approval. This is the reason that Huawei is not able to use Google Maps in its overseas mobile phones.
So now Huawei has announced ‘Map Kit’ that is its own mapping service. The service will not be directly used by users. It will serve as an API that will be used by third-party developers to develop navigation software.

Map Kit will be able to gather information from 150 countries all over the world. Its telecom base stations will be in more than 160 nations.
The CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group Richard Yu said that the Huawei Map Kit would be able to support advanced features including a car changing lanes, augmented-reality directions, and mapping along with real-time traffic information.
It will be available in 40 languages that will immediately boost its popularity. According to sources, the Russian mapping and internet service provider Yandex and the US-based Booking Holdings will be one of the first partners to be interested in Huawei’s mapping services.
