Ren Zhengfei, founder and CEO of Huawei, wants to negotiate the lifting of sanctions with new US President Joe Biden. During a press briefing, the Chinese businessman asked the new tenant of the White House to give him a call. For now, Huawei is still prohibited from doing business with firms based in the United States. De facto, the manufacturer can no longer collaborate with Google, Qualcomm or even Intel. Huawei also cannot exploit technologies developed on American soil. The manufacturer is therefore no longer authorized to preinstall Google applications and services, including the essential Play Store, on its smartphones.
During a press briefing in Taiyuan (China), Ren Zhengfei, the man who founded Huawei in 1987, asked the Biden administration to keep “a policy of openness”. Speaking to international media, Zhengfei publicly asked Joe Biden to get in touch with him. “I would be happy for such phone calls and my message is about joint development and shared success,” says Ren Zhengfei.
According to the leader, the interests of the United States and China converge. “The United States wants to have economic growth and China also wants to have economic growth. If Huawei’s production capacity can be expanded, it would mean more supply opportunities for US companies ”explains the businessman.

“I believe the new administration will keep its business interests in mind as they are about to decide their new policy. We still hope to be able to buy large volumes of American materials, components and equipment so that we can all benefit from the growth of China ”continues Zhengfei, obviously wishing to open a dialogue with the successor of Donald Trump.
