In advance of Apple’s rumored AR/VR headset, Meta releases Quest 3

Meta is the parent company of Facebook. Just recently, Meta announced its next-gen mixed reality headset. The company stated that Quest 3 will launch later this year. Well, this news from Meta is coming a few days before Apple’s WWDC event. It is expected that Apple might reveal its much anticipated AR/VR headset.

According to Meta, the design of Quest 3 is simple. It is quite comfortable and convenient to use. It is 40% slim. In contrast to the Quest 2, the Quest 3 offers a high-resolution display as well as an increased 2x graphics performance. The Quest 2 was introduced by Meta in 2020. The upcoming headset will be priced at $499.99. It will offer 128GB of storage. Furthermore, the company says that Quest 2 will be available at a low cost of $299.99 from June 4 onwards. Additionally, the company will share more details about eh upcoming Quest 3 in September when it will be conducting its Meta Connect event.

Some rumors suggest that the headset by Apple will be priced at $3,000. From this perspective, Quest 3 by Meta is a significantly affordable option. Meta states that the Quest 3 is an all-in-one device. On the other hand, the headset by Apple will include a separate battery pack accompanied by a wire.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg gave firsthand accounts of the Quest 3 in his newsletter over the weekend before it was made public. He claimed that the Quest 3’s emphasis on mixed reality, together with its significantly improved video pass-through capabilities, speedier performance, and extensive content library, left him “impressed.”
