In June, Threads API will be available for Creators and developers

Meta’s Microblogging platform, Threads, was launched back in July 2023. Since its launch the company is regularly updating the platform with latest features. With the latest update it seems like Thread will receive a major feature soon. Threads API will become available in June, as confirmed by a Meta engineer.

Threads API might be available soon

Many Threads users have been requesting a public API since the platform’s launch so that developers may include the social network into their products. For systems like WordPress to automatically share new posts to a Threads account, for example, an API would be quite helpful. Fortunately, this will at last come to pass in a few months.

We have been developing the Threads API for the past few months to help developers, creators, and brands manage their Threads presence at scale and quickly share new, innovative ideas with their communities from their preferred third-party applications,” the programmer wrote in a post.

Third-party apps will be able to publish, retrieve, and authenticate material via the Threads API. The API will eventually offer reply to moderation and insights as well. Meta have been working with a few partners including Hootsuite, sprout social and Techmeme for testing its latest API ahead its official launch. Techmeme published its first article on Threads using the API today as well. Remarkably, the engineer claims that the team was inspired to work on it by a Techmeme post requesting an API.

Recent updates on Threads

A new button that allows users to instantly access the camera without leaving the app was added to Threads last month as part of an upgrade. The addition of the option to save drafts is another eagerly anticipated feature for Threads users with this version. Additionally, Threads has been experimenting with the US version of their Trending function. The Threads app is available for free download in the App Store. To enjoy the latest features, make sure you have the most recent version of the app.
