In the near future, Apple will be able to update unopened iPhones

The majority of consumers find that immediately after unboxing their smartphone, they must upgrade the operating system. However, doing so is unavoidable. According to this viewpoint, when a customer purchases a new smartphone, an update may occasionally be pending. After taking the smartphone out of the package, users can manually update their device.

According to some recent pieces of information, the Cupertino-based tech firm is looking for a solution to this problem. Reportedly, Bloomberg’s journalist Mark Gurman claims that Apple is considering a new approach to wirelessly updating iPhones. Such an approach won’t require the retail stores to unbox the packages.

Getting into the details, Gurman shared that the store staff can place the packed boxes on a pad-like device. The smartphones will boot up wirelessly, and the system software will be updated. Eventually, the phone will turn off after this. It is assumed that this technology will reach the company’s stores by the end of the year. We can expect other companies like Samsung to adopt similar approaches in the future given the convenience of this method.

One benefit is that you can use your device immediately after unboxing without having to wait for an update to download or for your phone to reset. In order to avoid having to wait for hours or go over their data limit to download a software update, this could also be useful for those who do not have fast internet access (such as those who live in rural or underserved areas). Finally, as software updates would tackle many out-of-the-box faults, this may reduce consumer complaints.
