Instagram is experimenting with a new feature for the comments section

According to some recent pieces of information, Instagram might soon receive the poll feature in the comments section. This information was officially confirmed by Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, this week. All in all, this is quite a nice and interesting addition to the platform’s feature list.

Presently, the platform is experimenting with this feature. It is limited to a few members. The polls feature will help improve engagement for users. The initial information reveals that only the original poster can make polls. Consequently, a troll couldn’t find your post and make a poll that everyone could vote on. Although the test is small, Mark Zuckerberg claims that it will be public soon.

Polls should be available on Threads, not Instagram

For the past few weeks, Threads users have been requesting the polls feature. However, the company is going to add it to Instagram first. It can then be transferred to Threads. On the other hand, Mosseri shared a screenshot that shows that polls will work similarly to stories. Users will get access to see the number of votes. They can’t see who voted for which option. It will only be visible on the original poster.

Well, this is another addition to the feature lists on Instagram for the comments section. It will definitely improve user engagement on the platform. Recently, the company rolled out a GIF feature for the comments section. In addition, users can also create lists on Instagram that can be used to share stuff with specific users only. All of this is done to keep users on Instagram longer and expose them to more advertisements.
