After loads of testing, Facebook officially releases the Instagram Lite for its users. The app uses fewer data and phone resources. These are a few of the features Instagram users would highly appreciate.
Instagram Lite is just 2MB in size, while many “ornate, data-rich” animations and other heavy features were cut off. The developers also extracted cube transitions, heavy AR filters. However, they didn’t remove the GIFs and stickers that can be applied to Stories.
Another key feature of this new version is the ‘Dark Mode’ option that switches white background with dark text to a black background with grey letters.
According to Facebook, this feature would allow people living in communal areas and close quarters to browse “more privately and not bother those around them.”
Instagram Lite is available on the Google Play Store in more than 170 countries and can be downloaded and used by people no matter what network or device they’re on.
According to the source, Facebook will soon announce a global roll out to all countries and regions
