Intel CPU probably canceled, no new desktop processors for 2025
According to a new rumor, Intel has adjusted the schedule for its CPUs. Accordingly, the offer is evaporated. After the release of Arrow Lake, expected in October, there could be no new processors until 2026.
Arrow Lake is just around the corner
The new Arrow Lake CPUs are expected to come onto the market soon. The release date is currently October 25th. So far, however, Intel has kept a very low profile when it comes to the Core Ultra 200 processors.
Information on specifications and prices is currently only available from unofficial sources. After the crisis of the last few months, the upcoming desktop chips must be a success. They have to assert themselves against AMD’s Zen 5 CPUs. A new rumor could now indicate that Intel has a lot of trust in Arrow Lake internally.
New CPUs won’t be available again until 2026
Because as the leaker with the name Panzerlied, which is striking to German ears, reports (via WccfTech), Intel does not want to release a refresh version of Arrow Lake next year, as previously assumed.
The processors should be able to hold their own against the competition for the next two years. Intel typically releases new desktop CPUs about every twelve months. The 13th generation (Raptor Lake) chips from October 2022 were followed exactly one year later by the 14th generation (Raptor Lake Refresh). Things should be different at Arrow Lake.
On the one hand, it would be possible that Intel with Nova Lake wants to concentrate entirely on the next completely new generation, which is scheduled to come onto the market in 2026. On the other hand, it is conceivable that there is not enough untouched potential in Arrow Lake to make a refresh possible. If this is actually the case, the chips could remain the only generation that uses the LGA1851 socket.
Great competition
As always with rumors, caution is advised. However, if you take the leak at face value, it would mean that over the next two years, Intel’s Arrow Lake desktop CPUs will not only have to compete against AMD’s current Zen 5 processors, but also against upcoming models, including the especially for gaming powerful Ryzen 9000X3D variants.
Zen 6 chips can also be expected in 2026. However, a lot can still happen in two years. Even if Intel has actually moved away from an Arrow Lake refresh at the moment, things could change again in twelve months.
