iOS 14 Leak Suggests Apple iMac 2020 New Design

Chances are that Apple will present a new iMac design next week. This is indicated by an updated icon, which Leaker discovered in the code of the upcoming iPhone operating system iOS 14. The look is reminiscent of the iPad Pro. For days, rumors have grown that Apple plans to use the WWDC 2020 developer conference to launch a brand new iMac. Now a schematic representation has emerged within the iOS 14 data circulating on the net, which fuels the discussion about an update of the all-in-one portfolio. It shows a possible iMac with a uniform, reasonably narrow screen frame, which is strongly reminiscent of an iPad Pro with a stand or the Pro Display XDR. In addition, the Russian Leaker iFinder provides a first render image of its ideas for the new iMac on Twitter.

Fast SSDs and AMD navigation graphics cards are being considered

It was speculated in advance that Apple could further develop the iMac in the direction of the iPad Pro design and reduce the size of the frame around the retina display. An Apple T2 security chip, AMD graphics cards from the Navi generation, and the change from hybrid fusion drives to faster SSDs are also under discussion. The well-known iMac was last updated in March 2019, which would make a CPU upgrade to 10th generation Intel Core processors at least overdue. It remains to be seen whether Apple will also take the iMac Pro’s design and equipment in the same breath.

Apart from the iMac, Apple is to use the purely digital WWDC 2020 this year to celebrate the comeback of the 12-inch MacBook. However, low-class Intel chips should not be used again, but an ARM-based processor should serve as the main driver for the first time. Furthermore, the American manufacturer will usually present the new operating system updates for iPhones (iOS 14), iPads (iPadOS 14), Macs (macOS 10.16), and the Apple Watch (watchOS 7). The keynote will take place on Monday, June 22, from 7 p.m.
