iOS 19 Video Shows Design And Other Details

A new video of the tech youtuber Jon Proser gives detailed insights into the revised design of iOS 19. The leaks show rounder app icons, floating menu bars and subtle lighting effects-a significant approach to the aesthetic of visionos.

New design elements for iOS 19 unveiled

Apple IOS 18.4 has just released. The new version of the operating system for iPhones brings important innovations and introduces Apple Intelligence with chatted integration in Europe. But while users familiarize themselves with the new OS, Apple is already working on the next variant. For iOS 19, according to Tech-Youtuber Jon Prosser, Cupertino seems to be planning a comprehensive design revision.

According to his leaks from the past, not only the camera app should receive an extensive re-design. The rest of the user interface is apparently equipped with a “glass effect” through which the elements receive a kind of transparent look. A new video now shows even more from the upcoming iOS 19.

Round and transparent

On his YouTube channel “Front Page Tech”, ProSser has now unveiled further details of iOS 19. He stated that after criticism by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, he took a closer look and discovered further details in an iOS-19-building available to him. He confirms once again that the upcoming update will introduce a much more modern look that is based on the aesthetics of visionos.

However, the more rounded app icons and new floating controls are new and particularly striking, which are intended to give the system more depth. Among other things, ProSser shows that the search bar in the news app will be placed on the bottom of the screen in the news app and that the settings app will receive wider distances between the menu items.

The updated icons are apparently preserved a form between the classic “Squircle” design and a perfect circle. This change would have been one of Apple’s most striking design decisions for years, since the company has been holding the Squircle design since iOS 7. In addition, certain elements should receive a subtle shimmer effect on the screen when the device is moved.

Floating menus and new animations

The floating tab strips shown in the video are particularly interesting, which Apple describes internally as “tabview”. These new navigation strips are to be used in numerous Apple apps such as App Store, Apple Music and Messages. The design is very similar to the floating elements in visionos and brings a new dynamic component to the iOS user interface.

The design language of iOS 19 seems to be inspired by Visionos overall, which is expressed by the glass -like elements, depth effects and shadows. The recently published graphic for the WWDC 2025, which will take place on June 9, also points to this direction with its glass elements and depth effects.

Improved functions

In addition to the design changes, iOS 19 should also bring functional innovations. According to the ProSser, the iPhone 17 Pro models will allow to film at the same time as the front and back camera- a function that has been available for Samsung devices for over a decade.

The controls in the control center, such as the brightness and volume, are also designed more rounded, and the authorization queries for camera and microphone access receive a revised appearance. Even the standard keyboard should receive a refresher. Apple’s design philosophy has changed several times since the introduction of the first iPhone.

The last big leap took place with iOS 7 in 2013, when Apple, under the direction of Jony Ive, switched from the Skeuomorphic design to a flatter, more minimalist approach. The now leaked changes for iOS 19 could be a similarly significant development by integrating elements from the spatial user interface of visionos into the mobile platform.
