iPhone 16 Pro May Feature Under-display Face ID

In recent years, Apple has consistently been at the forefront of smartphone technology, and the company’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to include a highly-anticipated feature: under-display Face ID.

Face ID, which was first introduced with the iPhone X in 2017, uses advanced facial recognition technology to unlock the device and authenticate users. However, it requires users to lift the phone up to their face to unlock it. With an under-display Face ID system, the facial recognition technology would be built directly into the display of the device, allowing users to unlock their phone by simply looking at it, regardless of how it is oriented.

Many experts believe that under-display Face ID technology is the next step in the evolution of facial recognition technology, as it is more secure, convenient, and efficient than traditional fingerprint sensors or face recognition systems that rely on external sensors.

This new technology is expected to be a game-changer in the smartphone industry and could be expected to be seen on other rival smartphones as well. Moreover, this technology might also be adapted for use in other devices such as laptops, tablets, and other smart devices, including smartwatches and other wearables.

The report further states that after integrating “under-display” Face ID technology, Apple will shift towards an “underpanel camera” (UPC) design, effectively eliminating the need for any camera cutouts on the iPhone. This follows the projected plan laid out by display industry analyst Ross Young in May 2022, which included an alternating yearly release pattern for new under-display technology or revised display cutouts in Pro and non-Pro models.

However, it’s worth noting that these are all rumors at this point, and it’s unclear whether the iPhone 16 Pro will actually feature under-display Face ID. Apple has not yet commented on any such features and always keeps its new features under wraps before launch. Only time will tell if these rumors are true.

In summary, The addition of an under-display Face ID is a highly-anticipated feature that may come with Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro. But these are still rumors, and we will have to wait to see if they are confirmed by Apple.
