iPhone 17 Series Battery Capacities Leak — ESIM Models Get a Boost

Shortly before the presentation of the iPhone 17, further and rather interesting details about the battery capacities. For the first time, ESIM models are to be equipped with larger batteries-and an iPhone could crack the 5000 mAh brand.

iPhone 17 Pro Max cracked 5000 mAh mark

The iPhone 17 series is about to be presented, but just before tomorrow’s Evening, the final details on the battery capacities of the new Apple smartphones are leaked through. Particularly interesting: According to entries in the Chinese 3C certification database, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could exceed the symbolic 5000 mAh limit for the first time.

The leaked data that was shared by the well -known Leaker Shrimpapplepro show remarkable differences between the different models. How 9to5mac reports, Apple uses the space obtained for larger batteries in the ESIM variants for the first time due to the elimination of the physical SIM card shit.

Capacities in detail

The data show clear differences between the four planned models of the iPhone 17 series. The iPhone 17 Air will receive the smallest battery of the series with 3036 mAh (SIM version) or 3149 MAh (ESIM version). The standard iPhone 17 is to be equipped with 3692 mAh, while the iPhone 17 Pro could offer between 3988 mAh and 4252 mAh (ESIM). The top model iPhone 17 Pro Max would reach the highest capacity with 4823 mAh or 5088 mAh (ESIM).

The iPhone 17 Pro Max in particular would achieve an important milestone: it would be the first iPhone to cross the (especially psychologically important) 5000 mAh brand. For comparison: The current iPhone 16 Pro Max has a battery capacity of 4685 mAh. The Android competition cracked this brand years ago-Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, for example, offers 5000 mAh, while some gaming smartphones even come to over 6000 mAh. iPhone 17 Pro Max shows itself in Leak

ESIM models receive battery bonus for the first time

Of course, the first distinction between SIM and ESIM variants in the battery capacity is particularly interesting. ESIM models have between 3.7 and 6.6 percent more battery capacity than their SIM counterparts. So far, Apple has only filled the space obtained by the omission of the physical SIM card shit with a rubber block – now it is finally used sensibly. The capacity increases are different depending on the model: the iPhone 17 shows a moderate increase of 3.6 percent compared to the iPhone 16, while the iPhone 17 Pro with up to 18.6 percent records the greatest increase.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max would increase by up to 8.6 percent. A special case is the slim iPhone 17 Air, because this loses 48 percent of the capacity compared to the iPhone 16 plus 48 percent, which is due to its ultra-thin design. We will no longer have to wait for the official confirmation for a long time: The iPhone 17 series will be officially presented tomorrow at Apple’s traditional autumn event, this is entitled “AWE Dropping”. In addition to the iPhone models, the AirPods Pro 3 and new Apple Watch variants are also expected there.
