According to 9to5 Mac iOS 14 could see, Apple is not only working on a 4.7-inch iPhone but also a Plus model with a 5.5-inch screen, which together form the iPhone 8 Series could replace. According to the 9to5 Mac, the plus addition in the name is not yet confirmed, but Apple should traditionally use this name for the larger iPhone 9.
Both models would look similar to the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and would have installed a Touch-ID fingerprint sensor instead of a Face-ID face recognition. There are also indications in the iOS 14 code that both Apple’s fast A13 Bionic chip is on board, which is also used in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.
The fast chip should make the iPhone 9 series more attractive for users who use older models such as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 and are not willing to spend a lot of money on high-end smartphones.
