iPhone Sales in India set to fall for the first time in the last 4 years

Apple’s iPhone is one of the famous brands in India and kept higher sales benchmark for the last 4 years but according to the industry research, Apple would see a dip in iPhone sales during a holiday season 4^th quarter indicating first full year fall in the last four years.

According to an industry research firm Counterpoint, the California-based company would see a dip in iPhone sales first time in the last four years, 1.3 billion Indian consumers market has not made enough for Apple this year.

After publishing the third-quarter results, Apple CEO Tim Cook said, the fourth quarter sales in India remains flat despite a holiday season Diwali which is a bumper period for electronic sales.

According to the Hong Kong-based counterpoint, the forecasted figures for iPhone sales remained at 700,000 to 800,000 units down from 1 million a year ago, which is almost 20% down.

Apple was able to sell around 2 million units less 1 million from a year ago. This is fairly due to higher prices of iPhones due to weak rupee and trade tariffs.

Another important factor is the growing demand for Chinese smartphones including Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo. Apple iPhones are expensive along with the features and specifications that are not much compelling.

The other analysts say that Apple should regain its prestige in the region as Indian spending power continues to grow. Most of the iPhones sold in India market are older models indicating the prices play an important role in consumer’s decisions.
