The Elite in-ear headphones with ANC from Jabra are growing: The Jabra Elite 5 presented at IFA 2022 offers improved active noise cancellation, longer battery life, and all at a reasonable price. The AirPods competitor is even already available.
The Jabra Elite 5 shares the same oval design and enjoys the same 2-year warranty as the Elite 7. Both earbuds are also waterproof, albeit with a slightly lower IP55 rating. There are three microphones in each headphone so a total of six microphones are installed in the two headphones. This allows for hybrid noise cancellation and a HearThrough mode that allows for ambient noise.
Surprisingly, Jabra’s Elite 5 headphones come with 6mm audio drivers, which are smaller than, among others, the newly launched JBL Tour Pro 2, which has a smart charging case. Google Fast Pair and multipoint connectivity via Bluetooth 5.2 are also supported. Qualcomm’s aptX codec is supported along with the SBC and AAC codes. More importantly, the Jabra Elite 5 earbuds are compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and have one-touch access to the Spotify app. Users can customize presets and modes via the Jabra Sound+ Mobile app, available for Android and iPhone.
The battery life of wireless in-ear headphones is very decent. Expect up to 36 hours of playtime including the case when ANC is off. It shortens to 28 hours when the noise-cancellation feature is on. Last but not least, Jabra offers wireless and fast charging for the new wearable.
If you plug the charging case into the mains for 10 minutes, you can use the Elite 5 for an hour. The Jabra Elite 5 Wireless Buds are already available for 149.99 euros and are available in black and beige/gold.
