Jazz 4G Service: Mobilink Jazz Expected To Launch 4G services Soon—After getting 4G License

Jazz has officially acquired 4G license from government in a ceremony at ministry of finance on Friday. Finance minister handed over 4G license to Jazz CEO Amir Ibrahim during that ceremony.

After getting 4G license Jazz would be able to start 4G services for all its Jazz customers across the country.

In May, Government auctioned 10MHz frequency spectrum, technology neutral license to all bidders, only Jazz participated in the bidding process and submitted its bid. Jazz got the license for $324.5 million. The entire license fee was $295 million including 10% tax payable to FBR.

Mobilink will become the 3^rd largest 4G services provider in the country after this. Zong 4G was the first license holder in the country followed by Telenor who started its 4G services a year back.

Ufone is still reluctant to acquire 4G license and haven’t submitted any bid to open auction in May. A spokesperson from Ufone stated, “The license fees set for the bid were two high, also the 4G services and 4G supported handsets are expensive in the country. We don’t think that people are ready to pay for 4G services as the prices are too high and out of their reach”

How Well Jazz Can Position Itself In The Market

Two big players, Zong and Telenor are already offering 4G services to their customers, Zong has already made its strong position in the market as far as 4G services are concerned.

The growing demand for 4G services makes the market quite lucrative and sustainable, investments in infrastructure and expansion would yield handsome returns for the companies.

Definitely, with one more player in the market consumers would be benefited from intense competition, higher quality and low prices but, Would Jazz be able to compete with Zong and Telenor is still to watch.

Jazz acquired Warid last year and merged its business portfolio into its own, Warid used to offer LTE services to its customers which continued by Jazz after the acquisition. But the services were restricted due to license agreements. Now Jazz has the opportunity to expand its 4G network across the country with competitive prices and quality.
