Nostalgia for building: Legos Game Boy set

LEGO brings one of the most important gaming icons in a building block form: The new game boy set is an almost scale replica of the legendary handheld console from Nintendo. With 421 parts and a price of 60 euros, the set is aimed at adult collectors and Nintendo fans. Pre -orders are already on the official Lego page possible, the delivery begins on October 1, 2025. The Lego model measures 14 x 9 x 2.5 centimeters and thus comes very close to the original size. All characteristic elements are included: the Control Cross, the A and B buttons in the original colors, start and select keys as well as the side contrast for contrast and volume. The cartridge slot is particularly solved, in which the supplied replicas of the game modules can be inserted.

The set contains two classic game boy games as building blocks: Super Mario Land from 1989 and The Legend of Zelda: Left Awakening from 1993. While one module is in the Game Boy, the other can be presented on a separate stand. One Nintendo announcement emphasizes the authentic details of the model, which range from the font on the display to the colors of the controls.

The highlight of the set is the three interchangeable lenticular displays, the movement simulate. Depending on the point of view, they show different scenes: the classic Nintendo start screen with the falling logo, a scene from Super Mario Land or the famous beach scene with link and marin from left Awakening. When the model is tilted, the impression of a real animation arises. The original game boy was released on April 21, 1989 in Japan, where the first 300,000 units were sold out within two weeks. In the United States, the sale started on July 31, 1989 with 40,000 devices sold on the first day. Until the setting in 2003, Game Boy and Game Boy Color sold a total of 118.69 million times worldwide.

Legos Nintendo cooperation

The Lego Game Boy set is part of the successful Nintendo cooperation, which started in 2020 with the Nintendo Entertainment System. Since then, sets such as the Super Mario figures have followed, the NES with “functional” television, various Super Mario worlds and finally the Donkey Kong sets. The Game-Boy model is the eighth Nintendo set for adults.
