Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Foldable Tablet Might Replace The Laptops Soon

Lenovo has circulated a new prototype of its upcoming Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Foldable Tablet which can become a laptop while typing with its flexible foldable screen.

The new ThinkPad X1 will feature 13-inch 4:3 OLED 2K screen when it’s flat it seems like an iPad Pro in terms of size and built. When the device is folded it becomes a 9.6-inch screen with the same size screen keyboard.

The prototype got hands-on functional demo which provides different ways of using the device, the on-screen keyboard works well but it also needs practice due to the size and touch pattern, however, Lenovo is also pondering to release a compact keyboard for this device which can be connected using Bluetooth. This way the screen can be wide open to 13-inch size and the device can be placed on a kickstand while using the compact keyboard.

It is almost like all-in-one mini “laplet” a combination of laptop and tablet which can also be folded into a large screen smartphone.

The foldable screens are still not trusted by the consumers so far, Samsung a few weeks ago sent out devices to test the foldable screen on Galaxy Fold which turned out to be a nightmare for Samsung, and the company postponed the initial release of the device because of screen problems some reviewers faced.

It might be the start of replacing the laptops with foldable tablets, the parts of the devices are somewhat similar to the laptop as well, the device will have IR webcam, two USB-C Ports and Wacom Stylus.

The device runs on the Intel processor and Windows platform, Lenovo is looking forward to launching this device in early 2020.
