LG Gram Fold is the company’s first laptop with a folding screen

In the previous few years, we have come across laptops with folding screens from ASUS and Lenovo. According to some recent pieces of information, LG is next in line to join this list. Reportedly, the company has launched Gram Fold in its local market. It is the company’s first laptop with a folding screen.

The screen measures 17 inches when unfolded. It is a 2,560 x 1,920 OLED screen with an aspect ratio of 4:3. The device measures 12 inches in its folded state. When folded, the laptop features a virtual keyboard on the bottom half of the screen. On the other hand, in order to benefit from a traditional laptop experience, users can connect a Bluetooth keyboard over the bottom half.

According to LG, the unfolded Gram Fold can be used as a large tablet, an e-reader, or even a kind of monitor. The company also claims that the Gram Fold allows pen input, much like the best tablets on the market. When it comes to durability, Gram Fold has successfully passed the test. During the test, the device folded up to 30,000 times. Well, this is not a huge number in contrast to a foldable smartphone, but still, it is good given the fact that a laptop might experience frequent folding and unfolding as a foldable smartphone. The 30,000 figure, in any case, still equates to around 20 folds each day for four years.

When unfolded, the device measures 9.4mm in thickness. It weighs 1.25 kg. LG Gram Fold is fueled by a 13th-generation Intel Core i5-1335U processor. It accompanies Iris Xe graphics, a 512GB NVMe SSD, 16GB of RAM, and a 72Wh battery with support for 65W charging. Some other notable features include support for three stereo speakers, two USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.1.

Price and availability of LG Gram Fold

The device is not widely available currently. It is limited to the company’s local market, i.e., South Korea. In any case, the Gram Fold has a promotional price of 3.99 million won ($2,982) for the first 200 buyers and a standard price of 4.99 million won ($3,729). In comparison, the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold comes with a price tag of $3,499. Well, a folding laptop comes with an expensive price tag.
