LG is out of smartphone business but introducing its first rollable TV in the US

We already know that LG is quitting its smartphone business. But it intends to stay in the much bigger market, and perhaps the market has always remained in the spotlight – the display market.

Where some smartphone companies are working on foldable phones, LG has been working on rolling TVs. The company is now prepping to introduce its rollable TV – the LG Signature OLED TV R – in the US. Users can now “inquire about buying” a rollable LG TV from their website.

This rollable is the first of its kind and is the only one in the market. To no surprise, you can speak to control the TV with network-connected smart home devices, including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri.

Then there are several viewing options  – Full View, Line View and Zero View. The Full View, as it sounds, is where the TV unrolls to the fullest, featuring all the options.

The Line View allows the device to partially unroll for specific applications, including features such as Clock mode to check the time and weather, Frame mode to display photos from a smartphone, Mood mode to create a more relaxing atmosphere and other functions including Music and Home Dashboard navigation.

Then comes the Zero View, which rolls down the entire screen into a supplied base. In Zero View, the OLED TV R will still play music and other audio content through an internal multi-channel Dolby Atmos audio system.

While the company invites users to inquire about its availability, it won’t tell you how much LG Signature OLED TV R would cost you in your region. HD Guru said this rollable LG smart TV comes at a hefty price of $100,000. The Verge highlighted that when it was first launched in South Korea, it carried a price tag of 100 million won ($around 89,000).

If you desire to get the LG Signature OLED TV R, you better start saving since it has already started taking orders from the US and around the country.
