LG Reveals Brand New Design And Specs Of The Upcoming Flagship ‘Velvet’

In a new video, LG’s teased-out its next flagship phone. This also says it will run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor.

The video – in Korean – reveals the forthcoming LG Velvet look from every viewpoint. On the top, you can see the thin bezels and tiny teardrop notch, and on the back, the triple-lens camera (plus flash).

White, black, red and green are the color options, if the clip is anything to go through, and the materials used for the finish will be one of the key selling points of the LG Velvet: capturing the light and eye-catching ‘shimmering.’

The specification doesn’t tell us too much more about the handset, but it does seem that the 3.5 mm headphone jack is going to be preserved.

We see the Snapdragon 765 logo at the end of the video, indicating that the phone will run a processor that is not quite as powerful as the high-end Snapdragon 865.

The LG Velvet is still the LG G9, but LG has chosen to scrap the G-naming scheme to give more specific names to their phones. Velvet has obviously been chosen to highlight the “tactical elegance” of the unit.

We haven’t heard too much about the LG Velvet in the form of rumors and leaks, but LG seems to be doing a good job of unveiling the phone bit by bit alone. We now know the architecture and the CPU, and these are the key points that are protected.

A launch has been scheduled for May 15 so we shouldn’t have to wait too long to see the phone in full – and based on what we’ve seen so far, this will be one of 2020’s most notable launches.
