Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates recently stood out as a warning regarding the pandemic and Covid-19 remains his (and all of us) topic of the year. But Gates doesn’t get out of wondering either, especially when it comes to masks.
There is no longer any doubt that mouth/nose protection is an important weapon in the fight against the coronavirus and above all protects others, in some cases or to a limited extent even the wearer. Nevertheless, such everyday masks have become a political issue worldwide, as some people simply refuse to wear such protection – and above all endanger other people.
Bill Gates can hardly hold back his anger and astonishment at mask refusers according to the report. In his new podcast, which he started together with actress Rashida Jones (“Bill Gates and Rashida Jones Ask Big Questions”) wonders the long-time Microsoft CEO: “The idea of someone refusing to wear a mask is so strange to me.”
He says that mask refusers are “like nudists“. If you ask people to wear pants in public, “no American or very few Americans say it’s such a terrible thing.” If that doesn’t suit you, you can do without a mask or pants – but at home.
Jones continued, “If you ever want to get back to normal life sooner, wear a mask. Or don’t wear a mask and stay home. But asking about both sounds like you just want things to get better.” and they are not, so you just have to come to terms with how it is now. “
The two also talk about why experts initially thought masks didn’t really help. Gates also explains this and says that in the early days of the pandemic, it was thought that the coronavirus was more like a flu virus. The latter spreads through coughing, but not nearly as strongly as Corona, which is emitted in dangerous quantities when speaking: “These unbelievable viral loads that you experience with the coronavirus do not occur with most other respiratory viruses,” said Gates.

Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates first answered why he is the largest private owner of farmland in America.
During an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Reddit this weekend for the launch of his new book How to Avoid a Climate Disaster, the billionaire answered various questions.
According to the AGFunder News site, a user asked him “Hey, Bill! Why are you buying so much farmland? " To which Gates replied that seed science and biofuel development were the main drivers of acquisitions.
“My investment group chose to do this. It is not connected to the weather,” he wrote.
Earlier in the year, the businessman and his wife were named by The Land Report as the top private owners of American farmland by area, with 242,000 acres throughout 19 states. Among them, the states with most of the landholdings are Louisiana (69,071 acres), Arkansas (47,927 acres) and Arizona (25,750 acres).
It is the first time that Gates has publicly commented on land purchases made by entities associated with him and his wife Melinda.
