Micron introduces high-powered SSD: 9400 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD

Micron has come up with a high-powered SSD. It is reportedly the 9400 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. Most expectedly, it is going to be the first in the industry that will offer 30.72 TB of storage.

According to Micron, the latest 9400 solid state is capable of managing the workloads of data centers. It is well-suited to contribute to machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other such high-computing applications. According to Micron’s VP, Alvaro Toledo, the latest SSD is provided with 30TB of storage capacity. It can perform around 1 million IOPS in hybrid workloads. The Micron 9400 SSD can store larger datasets on respective servers. Furthermore, it can quicken machine learning training. Thus, providing the users a chance to get more of their GPUs.

It is reported that IOPS has been improved by around 77%. On the other hand, the 30TB SSD is capable of doubling the power of last-generation NVMe SSDs by Micron. Overall, this contributes to a traditional, two-rack-unit, 24-drive server that is completely supplied with Micron’s 9400 SSDs. Thus, mounting the total storage space to around 737TB.

With the recent development, the company claims that it will contribute to a major decrease in the footprint needed in data centers. It will thus help to lower the environmental impact of storing data. Given this new SSD tech, companies will also be able to lower their maintenance costs. As of now, the Micron 9400 NVMe SSD is available with different size options. These options include 6.4TB, 7.68TB, 12.8TB, 15.36TB, 25.6TB, and 30.72TB sizes. In addition to this, the tech is particularly made for U.3 sockets and U.2 backward compatibility.

Although the product is available. But still, the company has not shared any word regarding its price.
