Microsoft adds new features in Windows 11 Media Player

Microsoft renamed the Groove Music app to Media Player in Windows 11 and plans to use the application in the future to replace Windows Media Player. Now the developers have released an update with a new album view and other improvements. The update has version number 11.2203.30.0 and is initially only available for download by Insiders registered in the Dev Channel.

While all albums stored in the library were previously sorted by artist and displayed in a gallery view, it is now possible to list the albums and tracks. It is possible to switch between the different displays. To the Windows Insider blog, Users can now also hover over an album, artist, or playlist to see a queue button. Right-clicking on the Now Playing view now displays several options. This allows for faster file access and easier access to the album or artist page. Some settings, such as video brightness and contrast, can be adjusted with a slider.

The update will be distributed in the coming days

In addition, Microsoft is working on making the app better able to handle larger music libraries. While the updated app would be released alongside the latest preview build, it may take some time for all users enrolled in the Insider Program to receive the update. The innovations will be released step by step and should then be available to all insiders in the coming days.
