Microsoft Also Plans Bing Chat For Chrome And Safari

Microsoft is well aware that the coming competition in AI chatbots cannot be won if its own tool is only available in the Edge browser. Therefore, it will also be possible to install it in Google Chrome and Apple’s Safari.

Some restrictions

Microsoft is currently testing the integration into the two browsers. “We’re offering select users access to Bing Chat in Safari and Chrome as part of our testing of other browsers,” Microsoft spokeswoman Caitlin Roulston said in a statement to The Verge. “We look forward to expanding access to even more users once our standard testing procedures are complete.”

However, the currently available test integration still has some limitations. While Edge prompts can be up to 4000 words long, Chrome and Safari only allow half of that. In addition, a conversation with the chatbot is not only reset after 30 but after five rounds. Currently, pop-ups are also occasionally appearing with which the user is prompted to download Edge.’

The dark mode is coming

Google’s competing product Bard can already be used in other browsers. Therefore, a direct comparison of the two technologies is already possible in Edge – and in most cases, Microsoft has the edge here. In this respect, it is, of course, important for the Redmond-based company to also be present in the browsers of the competition because otherwise, you will not fail in the end not because of your own quality, but because you are only available in a niche browser.

A second innovation should please friends of dark GUI environments: Microsoft is also implementing the Bing chat interface in a dark mode. This can then be enabled by selecting Appearance from the hamburger menu in the top right corner of Bing Chat and then clicking “Dark” or “System default”.
