Microsoft And Samsung Join Hands Offering More Integrations And RCS

Microsoft and Samsung partners to introduce RCS messages to your phone app on Windows 10. Currently, the South Korean manufacturer allows RCS messaging on the Galaxy S20 series with “The Your Phone app.”

As part of the broader collaboration between Microsoft and Samsung, both companies will work together for more integrations, Microsoft will preinstall the apps on Samsung phones, integrate OneDrive into Samsung’s gallery app and sell Samsung devices through Microsoft’s physical as well as online stores.

Microsoft’s program manager Roberto Bojorquez, announced RCS messaging support for your phone on Twitter, he said that RCS support for “Your Phone App” starts with Galaxy S20 series, it also indicates that it will come to almost all new Samsung phones in the future.

Johan Lannstra, an engineer at Microsoft said, RCS support on Your Phone only works on Galaxy S20 phones, however, the new Galaxy Z Flip is not supported by RCS messaging, this implies that Samsung might integrate RCS support in flagships.

Microsoft and Samsung both taking on Apple’s iMessage, RCS (Rich Communication Service) allows users to share the rich messaging experience but it becomes complicated between the manufacturers and carriers, some carrier do not allow using rich media in messaging or might charge extra for that service. How Microsoft and Samsung will cope with these challenges is still to observe, once fully supported, it will bring tremendous rich messaging experience to Galaxy S20 users.
