Microsoft Changes Game Bar In Windows 11 For a Fresh Look

Microsoft fundamentally revises the Game Bar into Windows: the gaming overlay not only receives a more modern design, but also practical adjustments for handheld PCs. At the same time, the group is expanding the cloud gaming functions.

Fresh design for Windows Gaming Center

The Game Bar in Windows receives a comprehensive visual update. The overlay, which provides quick access to important gaming functions via Win + G players, will appear in a tidy look in the future. The user interface has been streamlined and presents itself with reduced lines and clearer coloring. Owners of Windows gaming handhelds such as the Asus Rog Ally benefit from the innovations.

The control of the widget store was optimized for controllers, which is particularly helpful in compact mode. The special display mode was of course developed in order to be able to optimally represent the contents of the Game Bar even on smaller displays.

Microsoft emphasizes in his announcement that the current update is only the beginning of a series of visual improvements that are rolled out this week. In addition to the main bar, the revision also affects central widgets such as the recording function, performance display and resource monitoring.

Seamless cloud gaming

In parallel to the game bar modernization, Microsoft introduces improvements in cloud gaming, we have prepared all the details in a separate article. Players can now switch between different titles without having to return to the main menu. This function is initially only available for Assassins Creed games, but is to be extended to further titles.

Game-pass-ultimate members can now stream over 50 other games-if they have them. The new cloud gaming titles include Gotham Knights, Party Animals, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
