According to him, the plans for the next generation of consoles should be “in the suspension”, while Microsoft wants to focus more on software and third-party publishing.

As the reason, he cited the high costs by taking Call of Duty in the Game Pass, which allegedly cost the company millions of dollars. How Windows Central Reported, however, confirmed trustworthy sources that the hardware plans are by no means “in the floating”.

Crisis of trust in Xbox

The speculation quickly gained driving because they fall into a time when Xbox fans are already unsettled by several controversial decisions. The price increases of the Xbox Game Pass had caused considerable resentment. In addition, Microsoft has been pursuing a new strategy since February and that former Xbox exclusive titles such as Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment and Sea of Thieves also published for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

The production of the Xbox Series X and S continues, and new stocks are delivered to retailers as planned. The already announced collaboration with AMD for tailor-made chips for next-gen-xbox devices from both third-party providers and Microsoft himself underpinned the long-term hardware plans as well as the Redmonian group. Microsoft clearly denied the rumors – but is that enough to regain trust?
