Microsoft Flight Simulator City Update 10 is here [Patch]
Microsoft has published a new update for the Flight Simulator. City Update 10: United States I brings graphic improvements for five US cities, including San Francisco and Honolulu. However, there are also technical problems on which the Redmonders are already working.
Five US cities in the new Flight Simulator Update
With the “City Update 10: United States I”, Microsoft has released a new free update for the Flight Simulator 2020 and Flight Simulator 2024. The update improves the visual representation of five US cities: Dallas and Fort Worth in Texas, Denver in Colorado, San Francisco in California and Honolulu in Hawaii.
The cities were revised with current air and satellite shots, digital height models (DESS) and TIN textures (triangulated irregular network). These technologies are intended to enable a significantly more realistic representation of the city structures and landscapes by reproducing more precise forms of terrain and buildings.

Sights in new splendor
Each of the revised cities offers striking landmarks, which are now more detailed. In Dallas and Fort Worth, players can admire the 219 meter high fountain place, the 160 meter high building 777 Main Street and the characteristic Reunion Tower. Denver, the capital of Colorados, which is located on exactly a mile (1,609 meters) above sea level, presents itself with the Republic Plaza, the highest building in the city, and the modern skyscraper 1144 Fifteenth.
The city is framed by the Rocky Mountains in the west and the wide levels in the east. With its iconic Golden Gate Bridge, the curved Lombard Street and the striking skyline, San Francisco, on the other hand, shows itself from a “new side”. And Honolulu offers virtual views of the Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head and the tropical landscape of Oahus in improved quality.
Technical problems with two cities
However, there are technical difficulties in implementing. Availability and installation
The update can be downloaded free of charge via the in-game marketplace. For the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the update is streamed after installation. The latest version of the simulator is a prerequisite. The name “United States I” indicates that further updates with a focus on US cities will follow. Previous city updates had already covered other regions of the world, including European metropolises such as Paris and London as well as major Asian cities such as Tokyo and Singapore.
