Microsoft incorporates AI features into Snipping Tool and Notepad
According to some recent pieces of information, the Notepad and Snipping Tool apps for Windows are about to receive updates. The new updates will be rolled out by Microsoft to Windows 11 Insider Preview’s Canary and Dev channels. Reportedly, the latest update comprises AI-powered features. With the help of these AI features, the apps will offer more options for productivity.
The new updates are available with version 11.2401.25.0 of the Notepad app. It includes a new feature named “Explain with Copilot.” The new feature appears when a user selects a portion of text and right-click on it. This feature allows “you to ask Copilot in Windows, right from within Notepad, to help explain log files, code segments, or any selected content.”
The Snipping Tool, on the other hand, accompanies the new updates with the 11.2401.32.0 version. The capacity to add shapes to the images captured in Snipping Tool, so you can quickly add rectangles, ovals, lines, and arrows to mark up your screenshots,” is one of its new features. You must pick the new shapes button from the toolbar in order to utilize this function.
These functionalities are being provided by Microsoft as part of their intention to introduce AI features in Windows 11 with the upcoming major OS update, version 24H2. Last week, the corporation began distributing the updated build through the Canary and Dev channels. Later this year, the public should be able to access it.
