Microsoft is revamping Teams with a new overview for meeting notes

Microsoft Teams will soon bundle meeting summaries in a central recap app. The new feature aims to end the chaos of scattered notes. Special quick filters are intended to make searches and direct access easier.

New hub for meeting recordings

Although Microsoft recently removed an old function from Teams, it also announced a number of new features and another small overhaul of the user interface. A functional expansion will be planned in the coming weeks. A new recap app is intended to make finding and managing meeting summaries significantly easier from July 2026. Up until now, conversation logs, recordings and derived tasks were often distributed in a confusing manner across various chat histories, file shares or calendar entries. Due to the increased use of artificial intelligence, the automatic creation of meeting notes has also increased significantly in recent months, which inevitably leads to a flood of generated content. When users want to understand a specific decision from a meeting weeks later, it can be difficult to find the right recordings.

To change that, according to an entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap for Teams, We are now planning a new applet that addresses exactly this point and will be integrated into the existing user interface as a separate module. Roadmap ID 564614 describes how the new application brings together all available summaries in one place. Integrated quick filters are intended to help narrow down the list of past conferences.

Strict time limit

In addition to pure text, the system also supports audio summaries, making it possible to review multiple meetings more efficiently. However, one disadvantage of the new function is a strict time limit. The program archives and only displays data from the past 30 days in the new view. After one month, the entries disappear from the central overview. Current projects are therefore clearly displayed without overloading the user interface with historical data. For research on older meetings, conventional, manual searches in past appointments still appear to be a must. The global rollout of the function is scheduled for July, although experience has shown that such distributions can be delayed by a few weeks.
