Dynamic updates are fundamentally different from regular Windows updates. On the one hand, they are used specifically when upgrading to a new version of Windows and, on the other hand, they are usually not distributed via the usual Windows Update mechanism. However, for these updates, Microsoft started distribution via the automatic Windows update function.
The update is probably happening now because Microsoft has started the forced update to Windows 11 24H2 for almost all users. There are only exceptions with Safeguard Holds, and the Windows team has now cleaned this up again. Users can also download the new WinRE update manually via the Microsoft Update Catalog download. Some versions – currently 23H2 and 24H2 – can also be updated via the Server Update Services. The updates KB5050119 and KB5050200 contain various components:
- Fixes for setup binaries
- SafeOS updates for Windows Recovery Environment
- Updates to the servicing stack
- The latest cumulative quality update
- Driver updates from manufacturers

Availability and compatibility
Updates KB5050119 and KB5050200 are available for both ARM64 and AMD64 based PCs. Despite the obvious importance of this update for system stability, Microsoft remains tight-lipped about details.
