Microsoft may introduce an Xbox Cloud Gaming Plan that is free to use but has ads

There are several options when it comes to cloud gaming services. However, not all of them are the best. One of the good options is Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming. Recently, the gaming service has been available as part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. In the US market, the subscription costs $14.99 per month. According to some recent pieces of information, the company might be looking to introduce a free plan for cloud gaming.

Well, don’t get too excited; just read along with us to find out more details about this. The new plan might be free but it will be ad-supported. In simple words, users will have access to game streaming services for free; however, they will be paying a price by watching ads on the platform. A hypothetical scenario was presented by Tim Stuart, CFO of Xbox, at the Wells Fargo TMT Summit.

According to the information shared by TweakTown, African and Asian users could have free access to cloud gaming in exchange for ads on the platform. He said: “You can say, ‘Hey, do you want to watch 30 seconds of an ad and then get two hours of game streaming?'” This applies to areas like Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and possibly other parts of the world that aren’t console-first.

According to Tim, the plan is suitable for regions where people have access to a smartphone but not to a gaming console. It looks like the company is interested in targeting more consumers with its new approach, which could contribute to the popularity of the platform. For Fortnite, Microsoft already provides free game streaming. Thus, there’s a good probability the company will move forward with the Xbox Cloud Gaming ad-supported strategy.
