Microsoft now releases new app for everyone

The new Outlook Windows app is now officially available for business customers. Microsoft announced in mid-July that the new email application would be generally available to business users from August 1st. So now the time has come.

New Outlook app available for business customers

Microsoft has confirmed that the new Outlook app for Windows has reached general availability (GA) for businesses. In a Blog post Microsoft points out that companies that want to continue using the “classic” Outlook Windows app can do so as an opt-in option. So you still have a choice. For companies that switch to the new Outlook Windows app, full support from Microsoft is now available.

Microsoft writes in the blog post: “This GA milestone will enable more companies to begin their migration process. We will continue to make feature improvements and monitor feedback, so try out the new experience and let us know what you want to see next!” The benefits of the new Outlook app were highlighted in a survey by Forrester Consulting. Users of the new application have achieved an average reduction in support tickets of 65 percent compared to the classic Outlook Windows app. In addition, the new users should be able to reduce their energy and storage costs by 27 percent.

The next step follows – date still unknown

The next step in the transition process from the classic to the new app will be to make the new Outlook app an opt-out option. The exact date for this change is not yet known, but Microsoft has assured that companies will be notified of this move 12 months in advance.
