Halo Infinite should actually already be available at the start of the Xbox Series X last fall, but the gameplay reveal in summer 2020 turned into a real debacle, Microsoft and developer 343 Industries had to admit that it will not work. The game has been postponed and now you can see from the campaign side whether that was the right decision.
Because Microsoft released the campaign trailer for Halo Infinite today. This “overview” is also over six minutes long, so you get a good idea of what the single-player mode will offer. After a short introduction or a “What happened so far” Microsoft reveals that Master Chief gets a new AI called The Weapon after Cortana has disappeared.
Above all, there is a lot of gameplay to see, including first glimpses of new weapons as well as new enemies and bosses. The overview also shows perhaps the greatest innovation of Halo Infinite, namely the large open game world. Among other things, bases have to be conquered, there are also corresponding tasks and goals.
Halo Infinite is the first game in the series since Halo 5: Guardians and that was about six years ago. The cliffhanger at the time was that Master Chief’s former companion was leading an AI revolution. Opponents include the Banisheds introduced in the Halo Wars 2 real-time strategy offshoot, but of course, there will also be a reunion with many other classic opponents.
An interesting innovation apparently affects boss opponents: These have bars with shield strength and health in Halo Infinite, and there should also be various role-playing elements in the latest offshoot of the series, including skills and weapon upgrades. From December 8th you will be able to see for yourself whether all of this works well.
