Microsoft Releases May Update For Xbox App For Windows

Microsoft is giving the Xbox app for Windows new features. The May update updates, among other things, the game card information, brings more filters to the game selection and shows up with new collections. There are also new options for chat and accessibility.

After the Redmond-based company has already supplied its consoles with the latest firmware update as reported, the Xbox app for PCs is now getting a makeover. The focus is on the new game card updates, which no longer only list the game covers with their names, but also with those of their publishers and additional information – eg the playing time or reference to new titles.

Microsoft also relies on so-called collections to find “your next favorite game”. So far, game trends from your own region have been introduced, among other things, categories such as “Take a break from the game” with titles that can be played through in less than five hours and “Clear the calendar” for particularly time-consuming games are now following. As usual, the corresponding information comes from the HowLongToBeat database, which can now also be used for filtering.

Accessibility & chat updates

You also create an updated contact point for all accessibility settings to remove any distracting animations, use special filters for games with accessibility features, and much more. Last but not least, Microsoft is revamping the Xbox app for Windows chat. This can now be separated from the interface and used individually as a second window. Ideal for using a second screen while playing.

As usual, the May update of the Xbox app can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store if it hasn’t already been done automatically.
