Microsoft Rolls Out Windows 10 Optional Update For Version 22H2

Microsoft has launched an optional, non-security update for the last fully supported version of Windows 10. This is a preview and will be released to all users in the last week of September. There’s something new again.

Improved search field returns to the taskbar

There are also a variety of bug fixes and improvements. Update KB5030300 is now available to Windows 10 users who are running Windows 10 version 22H2 and have signed up for the Release Preview channel. The build with the number 19045.3513 can then be obtained via Windows Update.

There are some new features in the preview. The update brings back an improved search field in the taskbar. In addition, animations start on some icons on the taskbar button for news and interests.

As with Windows 11, Microsoft is also launching innovations “under the hood”.

The Windows team has completed work to meet the requirements of GB18030-2022. This removes and orders characters for Microsoft Wubi input and Microsoft Pinyin U-mode input. The result is that you can no longer enter character code points that are not supported.

  • The update resolves an issue affecting an application virtualization environment (App-V). Copy operations in this environment no longer work. This occurs after you install the April 2023 Update.
  • The update resolves an issue affecting the Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP) certificate. The system reports some SCEP certificate installations as failed. Instead, the system should report them as pending.
  • The update fixes an issue affecting Microsoft Print to PDF. It uses the metadata for the name you use to log in as the author of a printed PDF. It should use the display name instead.
  • The update fixes an issue affecting some USB printers. Microsoft Defender is preventing you from printing.
