Microsoft has surprisingly released the multiplayer beta of Halo Infinite, since then the game can be tried out via Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox. And many gamers did that too because around 272,000 players were recorded simultaneously on Steam alone.
Last night, the Xbox celebrated its 20th birthday, the 20th anniversary of the release of Halo: Battle for the Future. Because the shooter with Master Chief in the leading role as part of the launch line-up of the then completely new console and put Microsoft on the console map almost suddenly.
So it’s no surprise, of course, that yesterday’s Xbox celebrations were mostly about Halo. And Microsoft did not disappoint either: Among other things, they presented the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Halo series, which will run on Paramount +, and surprised fans with the immediate start of the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta. This is available as a free-to-play version for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles. PC gamers use either the Xbox app or Steam.
How many have done this is not known in the case of Microsoft’s own systems, but the players on the Valve platform can be seen thanks to SteamDB. And there were quite a few, on the contrary: The maximum number of simultaneous Steam users was 272,586 players, so Halo Infinite reached more than good fourth place on Steam.
In the course of today, the number fell to below 100,000 gamers, but due to the time of day, that’s not a big surprise. It should also be emphasized that there are also numerous other Halo Infinite players on consoles and Xbox for PC, so the actual number of users is likely to be many times higher.
