Office

In March, Microsoft announced plans to launch a new, standalone version of Office applications called Office 2024. Now there is new information about this, as the first public preview of Microsoft Office “LTSC 2024” is available.

In a new blog post on TechCommunity, Microsoft explains that commercial customers can now learn how to install and activate the public preview of Office LTSC 2024 for Windows and Mac on their respective support pages.

What’s interesting is that in addition to the features of previous versions of Office, Office LTSC 2024 will also include “a subset of new features that are already available in Microsoft 365 Apps for businesses,” according to Microsoft. The specific new features have not been announced. The apps will be supported for five years with software updates when they officially launch later this year.

Applications included in the preview include:

  • Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Access)
  • Microsoft Office LTSC Standard for Mac 2024 (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote)
  • Microsoft Project Professional 2024
  • Microsoft Visio Professional 2024

Microsoft added in the blog: “Because we know that many customers only use Office LTSC on a subset of their devices, we will continue to support the deployment of Office LTSC and Microsoft 365 Apps on different machines within the same organization with a common set of deployment tools : Click-to-Run on Windows and Apple Package Format (pkg) on Mac, just like the Office LTSC 2021 version.”

Microsoft had already announced that the prices for the commercial versions of Office 2024 would increase by around ten percent. However, there is no price increase for the consumer versions, which are scheduled to launch this year.
