Microsoft Surface 4 Benchmark Score Unveils Ryzen 7 4800U Processor

Microsoft plans not to launch the Surface 4 Laptop exclusively with Intel CPUs. A recently leaked benchmark result indicates that a Ryzen 7 4800U should be installed in a model. The Surface Laptop 4 could be launched as early as in October.

The device was tested with the 3DMark benchmark software. The result was published by a twitter user Tum Apisak. The specifications describe a device that is manufactured by Microsoft and is to be equipped with a Ryzen 7 4800U CPU. Although the Surface Laptop 3 is not mentioned directly, the configuration suggests that it is a variant of the future Microsoft notebook.

When Surface 4 laptop is not is the first Microsoft-device with both the Intel and with AMD processors comes on the market. The previous model, the Surface Laptop 3, was also equipped with various Intel and Ryzen CPUs. With the Ryzen processors, users could choose between the Ryzen 7 3780U and the Ryzen 5 3580U. As is likely the case with the Surface Laptop 4, the chips have been modified to get better performance.

Second variant with Ryzen 5 4500U

A benchmark result showed up a week ago, which indicates a Surface Laptop 4 model with a Ryzen 5 4500U processor. In contrast to the Ryzen 7 4800U, which has eight cores with a clock rate of up to 4.2 gigahertz, the Ryzen 5 4500U has six cores, each clocked at 4Ghz.
At the end of March, details of the first prototype of the Surface Laptop 4 were made public. The device was equipped with a Tiger Lake-U chip from Intel. It is not yet known exactly when the new Microsoft notebook will be released. However, it is considered likely that the device will be announced in October 2020 and will be delivered a few weeks later.
