Microsoft Teams now integrates Outlook Calendar

A few days ago, we shared all the new features Microsoft added to Teams in January 2025. Among those updates was a mention of a new calendar experience coming to Teams. Well, good news! Microsoft has officially made this enhancement available for Teams customers. In a recent blog post, they announced the general availability of the Outlook calendar in Teams. Let’s dive into what makes this update so exciting.

What’s New in the Teams Calendar?

Microsoft Teams already offers an integrated calendar view with Outlook, but this update takes it to the next level by making the integration smoother and more user-friendly. Here’s what’s new:

• Seamless Integration: Improved feature parity with Outlook, including print support, time zones, scheduling assistance, delegate access, and more.
• Copilot and Places:
  • Copilot helps with managed bookings.
  • Places provides workplace presence insights.
• Teams Premium Perks: If you have a Teams Premium license, you unlock advanced features like quick book and Places finder.

Calendar Views:

The updated calendar now offers five different views to suit your needs:

1. Month View
2. Split View
3. Time Scale
4. Saved Views
5. Weather Display

Customization and Easier Meeting Management

Microsoft has added flexible customization options to enhance how you use the calendar. For example:

• You can share your calendar with your organization.
• Pop the calendar out into a separate window to multitask more effectively.
• Set up meetings more easily with refreshed meeting templates and options that appear when scheduling a meeting or clicking on a timeslot.

Plus, if you need a quick memory jog, you can now left-click on any past meeting to access its artifacts.

How to Enable the New Calendar

Ready to try it out? It’s simple:

1. Open the Teams desktop client.
2. Navigate to the calendar view.
3. Toggle on the New Calendar option in the top-right corner.

This new calendar experience is currently opt-in, so if you prefer, you can switch back to the classic version at any time.
