Microsoft has announced that the Teams app will be dropping support for some older Android versions in early 2022. The whole thing will start in stages from the end of March 2022, when support for Android 5 will end.
This comes from a new report by Windows Central. Microsoft Teams will therefore discontinue support for older Android versions in three steps. It is not known how many users will be affected by this, as Microsoft has not yet published any relevant information on the number of users on the various platforms.
Devices that still use Android 5, 6, and 7 will no longer be supported from 2022. Microsoft’s end-of-support schedule is as follows:
According to the company, after the official support for Android 6 and Android 7 has been discontinued, it will still be possible for up to two months to download the app from the Play Store. Microsoft advises users affected by the discontinuation of the Android operating system to upgrade to a newer Android version as far as possible. Otherwise, Microsoft can no longer guarantee the security of the Teams app and communication.
