Microsoft To Fix The Skype Bug That Sends Notifications

The communication software Skype, which belongs to Microsoft, no longer plays the same role as it did years ago, but it is still used by many people. But in the last few days, some may have thought of uninstalling it because Skype annoys them.

Skype today is a shadow of itself

It’s not easy as a loyal user of Skype: The software that once revolutionized our communication thanks to Voice-over-IP is now just one messenger among many and not even remotely the best. In addition, the software that Microsoft bought more than 12 years ago is no longer the top priority in Redmond.

This then leads to situations that users are currently having to deal with as Neowin reports, Skype users are currently dealing with a “tidal wave” of push notifications. This problem initially seemed to affect only a small number of users, who received multiple notifications for the same message.

This undesirable behavior started last week, among other things, users receive hourly notifications via Skype’s video chat feature. Others report that they sometimes receive up to ten such push notifications per hour – for a single message.

Skype has now spoken out and confirmed these problems. On Twitter aka X, the service writes: “Hello Skyper, we apologize for the repeated push notifications you have received in the last few days. We are aware of this issue and are actively working to fix it as soon as possible. We will update you once the issue is resolved.”

So there is currently no solution to the problem, those affected can currently only switch off the notifications if they want to have peace and quiet.
