Microsoft Tweaks Office For Samsung Folding Smartphones

Samsung Office

Samsung and Microsoft are expanding their partnership: with the newly introduced Samsung Galaxy folding smartphones Z Fold3 and Z Flip3, Microsoft’s Office apps are also being adapted to the folding displays and given new options.

Microsoft has announced that several Android apps, including Microsoft Office, Teams, and Outlook, have been optimized for Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Samsung and Microsoft had worked on it together in the run-up to the device presentation so that with the market launch of the new generations of Flip and Fold, the adapted apps can also start.

Multi-active windows

Patrick Chomet, Executive Vice President, Head of Mobile Products & Experiences at Samsung, comments on the enhancements to the apps: “With the multi-active window, you can run multiple apps at the same time. For example, you can open Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and open a Drag and drop the table directly into your presentation. Now you can even run two instances of the same app. ” These improvements include, for example, new multitasking options that use the two screens separately.

In addition, you can start a presentation in full-screen mode on one-half of the display while making a team call underneath. This is intended to attract more users, especially in the corporate environment. Teams also get new options for the two displays. So you can call up the whiteboard and draw something with the S Pen to explain it better. Microsoft Outlook gets a division for reading an email on one half of the display, while on the other half you can see a preview of other emails in the inbox.
