Microsoft Updates Windows 10 20H2 With Code Name Mangan

Windows 10 Insider Program

Microsoft had to submit a bugfix update for the recently released preview version for Windows 10 20H2. Only one change was made to improve overall stability.

The Windows team is now writing this in a blog post on the preview build. The new preview, which can now be tested by users in the Fast Ring, has the build number 19608.1006. This is a cumulative update, so it also contains the improvements from the previous updates. The KB4557426 entry in the Knowledge Base was provided for the update.

It Says

  • (UPDATE 4/17) We released the cumulative update build 19608.1006 (KB4557426), which contains a single fix to improve the overall reliability of the operating system.

It is not known exactly which changes were published. Microsoft is quite covered; there are no release notes and so far no findings from Windows experts. Since Microsoft only added the new cumulative update two days after the release of the original version, you have to assume that it is an important update otherwise, the update could have waited.

Current Problems

A problem in the current Windows 10 Insider program is that the preview versions are “jagged”: Not all new functions are released equally for all users, which means that some errors in the new Windows feature only become apparent after a while if a larger one User participation in testing was. Of course, these are all speculations at the moment, but the quality of many updates left a lot to be desired this year. In addition, not only the quality suffers but also communication. A new boss of the Windows Insider Team has been around for a few weeks, but little can be heard from her.
