Microsoft’s Developer Direct to Unveil ‘Doom: The Dark Ages’ and More Exciting Xbox and PC Titles

Microsoft is kicking off the new year with an event showcasing some of the most exciting upcoming games for PC and Xbox consoles. A long-awaited action title is finally set to be fully revealed.

Microsoft shows upcoming games

How to in a blog post on the Xbox website announces, there will be a new edition of Developer Direct on January 23, 2025. As part of this format, upcoming games for all Microsoft platforms are presented without any frills with trailers and developer interviews. The live stream, which according to the post can be followed on all Xbox channels, begins at 7 p.m. German time.

Continuation of a shooter legend

One of the highlights is without a doubt the full reveal of ‘Doom: The Dark Ages’, which has been eagerly awaited by many fans. The game is a prequel to the titles ‘Doom’ and ‘Doom Eternal’ from Studio id Software, which were released in 2016 and 2020. Promising images could already be seen in a first trailer.

Now they want to properly introduce ‘Doom: The Dark Ages’ at Developer Direct. So there will probably be at least one new video showing more of the game. The developers may also appear in front of the camera and reveal further details about the project.

More highlights

If Doom is too bloody for you, you can look forward to two action games that are scheduled to be released later this year. In ‘South of Midnight’, players explore a mysterious, fairytale-like world inspired by American Southern folklore as the lone warrior Hazel. In contrast, in the Belle Époque world of ‘Claire Obscure: Expedition 33’ you set off with a whole troop of heroes to find a legendary, deadly painter. Anyone who tunes in can expect interviews with the developers and new trailers. Maybe even the release dates will be announced.

Additional mystery game

In addition, the poster and the text for the event reveal the unveiling of a seemingly previously unknown title. Games from Xbox developers such as ‘Fable’ or ‘Gears of War: E-Day’ would be off the table. But there are rumors about a remake of ‘The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’, which Bethesda and the development studio Virtuos are reportedly working on. But there is no concrete evidence of this. So it could also be a completely different game. If you want to know exactly, you should check out the live stream in just under two weeks.
