Motorola introduces Motorola Rizr: A rollable concept phone at MWC 2023

MWC 2023 has been started in Barcelona. Several companies are showing off their products as well as new concepts. One such case is with the company Motorola. Reportedly, the company has featured ‘Motorola Rizr’, a rollable concept smartphone at the event. Interestingly, the concept is exhibited in Barcelona.

As per recent reports, the phone is capable of extending upwards. Since a part of the smartphone’s display moves from the back to the front. Where the bottom part moves downward. It is the point where the display curves. The back panel appears inactive unless it rolls out. In a fully rolled-out form, the label can be observed on the back panel. It appears like a thin plastic piece with a display on the front.

Furthermore, the smartphone is accompanied by two cameras on the rear. In the non-extended form the smartphone appears quite compact. The rolled-in form of the smartphone appears similar to the OPPO Find N2. However, the design is quite unique and different.

The name of the smartphone i.e., Motorola Rizr depicts that it might be chosen for some good reasons. Since the label, ‘Rizr’ refers to the series of the company’s sliding phones. Initially, they were introduced in 2006. Rizr series was quite popular in those days.

Well, it remains to be seen whether such a smartphone makes its way into the market or not. Besides this, the company has vast experience with foldable smartphones. So, it would be interesting to view something like a rollable concept.

As of now, we don’t have any rollable smartphone commercially available in the market. OPPO came forward with a rollable smartphone at the end of 2020. On the other hand, LG was expected to introduce a rollable smartphone. However, it closed its smartphone business shortly after this. Well, we can expect that Motorola could be the first company to introduce a rollable. But when we are not sure about this.
